Height adjustable at the touch of a button

We specialize in the development and construction of special machines for processing plastic spirals. For a Dutch customer, we developed a globally unique joining machine with a twelve-meter-long, height-adjustable table—an innovation in terms of ergonomics and occupational safety. Machines for manufacturing spiral fabrics: Spiral winders, assembly and stuffing tables for further processing

At first LEO only built machinery for the own seam connector production. The transition to becoming a machine builder for spiral fabric manufacturers was initiated by customer requests. Taking such a major business step upon customer request establishes a very close working relationship. Still today we strive to establish and maintain such customer relationships.

From the very beginning on the objective was to build top quality machines with highest durability to match the newest standards in technology. This thinking is rooted in the conviction that the quality of the machine will have a significant effect on the quality of the final product. A problem free spiral fabric can only be assembled properly if all construction elements are made to very close tolerances. Only perfect spirals assembled flawlessly will yield problem free heat set spiral fabrics. Therefore, perfection in spirals and their assembly yields perfection and efficiency in the final product.

Today LEO Feinwerktechnik offers a wide variety of machinery for the different process steps in the production of spiral fabrics.

Winders

The spiral coil is the very foundation in the production of spiral fabrics. LEO offers a range of spiral winders with different production characteristics, starting with an “economy”-version continuing up to the highly productive and versatile “premium”-machine.

Assembly Table

For the further processing of the spirals LEO Feinwerktechnik offers assembly tables with different levels of automation. These assembly tables are available for working widths of 3m up to 12m. Upon customer request even higher working widths and other individualizations are possible. LEO’s top-of-the-range model is able to produce up to 30m² of spiral fabric per hour.

Stuffing Table

In order to adjust the permeability of spiral fabrics, the openings can be filled with stuffers. For spiral fabric stuffing LEO again offers a number of machines. Just like the assembly tables, the stuffing tables differ in the degree of automation and in the maximum width of the spiral fabric that can be handled.

Combination Assembly/Stuffing Table

LEO even offers the combination of assembling and stuffing in tandem on the same framework. When looking at the whole production process of spiral fabrics, these two process-steps are very logical to be combined, because this combination offers the greatest potential to improve productivity that is technically possible while generating the least amount of scrap material. Besides combining two important steps in the production of spiral fabrics, this machine also saves interim steps in the production process, like storing the assembled fabric until it can be stuffed or rewinding the raw fabric onto different tubes.

Seam spirals by LEO Feinwerktechnik

Seam spirals are used to form the seams on such end use products as paper machine clothing (PMC) and other specialty fabric transport belts. The spirals are inserted into the ends of the woven fabric in a reweaving (Pin Seaming) process. This way the seam is formed which later on is used for joining the two ends of the spiral fabric together, thereby forming a continuous belt.

Manufacturing seam spirals was originally the sole purpose of LEO Feinwerktechnik. Over time, LEO seam spirals have been improved continuously. Today our seam spirals are produced by absolute specialists with long-term experience. Besides our standard product lines, we have been able to successfully manufacture unique requests by our customers.

Seam spirals by LEO are made from highest-grade materials and they are produced to match very narrow tolerances. They undergo a multistage quality control. They are checked throughout the production process and undergo an additional 100%-check after the production.

Several types of materials, sizes and colors are offered depending on end use exposure. LEO seam spirals are also available in Polyester or PEEK material adhering to FDA direct food contact standards. Other materials have been designed to offer significant resistance to hydrolysis and abrasion forces. We are sure you will find a seam spiral in our extensive product range that will perfectly fit your specific requirements.

Light weight conveyor belt connectors “LEO-ZIP”

The light weight conveyor belt connector “LEO-ZIP” was especially developed by LEO. The connection is made using a resilient seam type spiral attached to a woven fabric webbing. This Leo-Zip spiral lacing is then bonded, vulcanized or fixed between the end layers of the light weight transport belt.

We offer LEO-ZIP in a number of standard sizes, a choice of colors and made from different materials to match different applications. Many of these products are FDA compliant for direct food contact.

Again we have highest quality standards concerning the choice of materials, processing and dimensional accuracy. The quality control starts already before production with the materials we use, and continues throughout the production just as extensively as for the seam spirals. The pintle- or connection-wire to join LEO-ZIP spiral lacing is supplied as standard add-on.

Pintle wires with stainless steel leader

In order to join together seam spirals, LEO-ZIP or spiral fabrics we offer an extensive choice of pintle-wires in different designs made from different materials. They are also available in numerous colors, diameters and lengths. Materials available are Polyester, Nylon and PEEK.
